Stainless steel tube tolerance chart

Stainless Steel Tube is made up of stainless steel. Like all piping, the Stainless Steel Tube material also differs. There are different types and forms of steel tubes. This calls for different capacities of the material. They have different tolerance levels as well. Tolerance is a measure of acceptability in the deviation of the wall thickness. Since the pipes are made through different procedures, there are possibilities of deviating wall thicknesses along the length of the pipe.

The pipes could be either cold drawn or hot rolled. The cold drawn ones are called the seamless stainless steel tube because they look seamless and the deviation in wall thickness is negligible. The hot rolled ones on the other hand can have deviations in wall thicknesses. This is when a tolerance measurement is needed. The tolerance chart provides the information on how much of a deviation could be tolerated for each types and dimensions of pipes.

For example, the tolerance chart mandates that for hot rolled carbon steel, the maximum tolerance limit is 0.25%. Anything above this level is not acceptable. The tolerance chart helps buyers to be able to reject products that are not under the tolerance range and be safe from unwanted outcomes in the application. At the same time, it helps the manufacturers to make sure that the pipes are in accordance with the tolerance limits so that they don’t cause any troubles to them. The ss 316 tube with good tolerance levels could be purchased for a reasonable price.
